Documents checklist for importing a car from Singapore

For Transfer of Residence

Only if you are moving home and claiming ToR. Send these with your ToR1, before the car ships.

Proof you have lived outside the UK for 12 months or more For example a Singapore tenancy agreement, employment pass, or bills in your name going back a year.
Proof you are moving your home to the UK For example a UK tenancy or purchase, a job offer, or school places.
Proof you have had the car for 6 months or more The purchase paperwork and the car's Singapore registration details showing you as owner.
Your ToR1 approval number from HMRC Pass it to us as soon as it arrives. Our customs team needs it.

Your rebate figures from OneMotoring Look up the PARF and COE rebate before you decide anything.
Any car loan settled or agreed with the finance company A car on finance needs the lender's agreement before it can be deregistered and leave. Talk to them early.
A collection date from us, tied to a sailing Deregister close to this date, not weeks before.
Deregistration done online with the LTA No paper forms to post. Keep the confirmation.

On collection day.

Every key and fob for the car Spares included. Replacements are hard to get once it has left.
The service history and handbook Useful for the IVA or MOT, and for whoever owns it next.
The car emptied of personal belongings Unless we have agreed otherwise in your quote.

We register the car through our DVLA account. These are the documents we need from you.

A copy of your photocard driving licence Or separate proof of your name and your UK address if you do not have one.
The UK address the car will be registered to The V5C log book is posted there.
The car's purchase invoice And any other documents you have for the car.
